Pictures from Robot Games 2010

Western Canada Robot Games 2010

On May 15  I competed at the Robot Games held at the Aerospace museum in Calgary.  I entered my robot called "Prime" in the Beginner Mini Sumo Competition.  This is my first competition.  It took 3 best of 3 matches in the finals to determine the winner and in the end I got 2nd place.
Here are some videos from the final matches.

Mini Sumo vs. not so mini sumo Episode#3

Another battle between Mini Sumo and the not so mini sumo except this time a giant human gets into the fight.

Here is another picture of Mini Sumo's first victim.....

Mini Sumo vs. not so mini sumo Episode#1

Here is a video of my Mini Sumo's first unofficial opponent.  The opponent started with severe sensor issues so it wasn't a fair fight but it does show the potential.

Mini Sumo

This weekend my Dad helped me build my first Mini Sumo Robot. This was a kit from Solarbotics. I did all of the soldering myself but my Dad had to help me a little putting some of the pieces together.
It only took us two days to put it together and everything worked as soon as we powered it up.  It took a while to tune all of the pots but it seems to be working awesome so far.
I am still thinking about what to name the robot.

Cool Robot Link

Here is a video of a cool military robot that uses wireless technology that Andrik's Dad helped create. This video is taken from a Discovery Channel program. The Robot was made by iRobot.

Attack of Herbie Episode#1 - Demonstration of Herbie's moves

Herbie the Robot

Here are some pictures of Herbie the mousebot.  This is my very first robot I have ever built.  My dad helped me order this kit from Solarbotics.  The best part about building this robot was learning to solder!
The robot is a light chasing robot with collision detection.

Notice the Whiskers on the front and Antenna on the back for collision detection.
Herbie has two IR detectors for seeking light sources.
